Straight answer
What does a ServiceTitan proposal and estimate template build cost?
A proposal template in ServiceTitan is a group of Good/Better/Best estimate templates your tech presents in the field. What it costs to build depends on who does it: a template pack runs a few thousand dollars, a full custom sales system runs into five figures one-time on the open market, by what contractors report. We build and maintain yours a third way, wired to your pricebook, from $2,700/month, billed monthly, no one-time fee.
The number swings on one thing nobody quotes: whether the pricebook under the proposal is real. A cheap pack on a broken book just presents the wrong price faster. Here is the whole picture, including the routes that aren’t us.
| Route | What you pay | What you get | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy a template pack | A few thousand dollars, reported, paid once | A batch of estimate templates fast | They sit on whatever pricebook you already have. Wrong costs or hours underneath, and every tier prices wrong |
| Auto-generate (Pricebook Pro) | Bundled in the Pricebook Pro add-on | Proposals built from your top sellers by Titan Intelligence | Pro-only, and only as good as the book under it. The button does not fix costs, hours, or links |
| One-time custom build | Five figures reported for a full system, paid up front | A custom proposal set, delivered once | It starts drifting from your margins the day it ships, and updates cost extra |
| Titan Tech Tools | From $2,700/month; no one-time fee | Proposals and estimate templates built onto a real pricebook, and kept current | It’s a monthly partnership. If you only want templates dropped on your existing book, we’re not the cheapest way |
The real cost driver
A proposal is only as good as the book under it
Here is what the cheap quotes skip. A dynamic estimate template does not carry its own price. It pulls the price straight from your pricebook, the way ServiceTitan computes every dynamic number: billable hours times labor rate, plus material cost times markup, plus equipment cost times markup.
So if the service has no sold hours, or the condenser carries no cost, or the materials were never linked, every tier in that shiny proposal presents a wrong number in front of the customer. That is why a proposal build is really a pricebook build with a selling layer on top, and why a template pack dropped on a half-built book just helps a tech present the wrong price with more confidence. The free Pricebook Health Audit reads your export and shows you exactly which of those inputs are missing today.
What it takes to build right
What actually goes into a proposal that sells
The work is not typing templates. It is the ServiceTitan structure and the decisions underneath it, on the same book a real shop runs:
- Estimate templates, set to dynamic. One option per job, pulling live from the pricebook so the price updates when your costs do, instead of a static number that goes stale.
- Proposal templates, grouped for the field. The Good/Better/Best options a tech shows the customer in ServiceTitan Mobile, one per real offering.
- Proposal types that fit your shop. The tier labels, Good/Better/Best or your own Basic/Premium/Premium Plus, applied the same way every time.
- The ladder built on the equipment. On an HVAC system the outdoor unit is the differentiator: single-stage to two-stage to variable-speed, cost climbing as you climb tiers, while furnace, coil, material, and labor hours hold about constant. Get that order wrong and the tiers make no sense to the buyer.
- The links that make it true. Services tied to their equipment and materials, so each tier prices off real cost. This is the heart of The Present-Don’t-Configure Method™: the tech presents, the book already did the math.
None of that is a button. It is done by someone who has run the shops and knows how ServiceTitan actually prices, on your real export, and then kept alive as your costs move. That is what you are paying for, whoever does it.

Questions
Proposal and estimate template cost, answered
How much does it cost to build ServiceTitan proposal and estimate templates?
Three honest routes. Build them yourself: $0 in cash and days of office time per proposal, done right. Buy a template pack or a one-time custom build: contractors report paying anywhere from a few thousand dollars for a small template set to five figures for a full equipment sales system. Have Titan Tech Tools build and maintain them wired to your pricebook: from $2,700 per month, billed monthly, no one-time fee. The number swings on who does it and whether the pricebook underneath is real.
What is the difference between a proposal template and an estimate template in ServiceTitan?
An estimate template is one priced option for a job. A proposal template is a group of those estimate templates, the Good, Better, and Best options, that a technician presents to the customer in ServiceTitan Mobile so they pick one. The Good/Better/Best labels are set by a proposal type, which you can rename to anything, like Basic, Premium, and Premium Plus. Estimate templates come in two kinds: dynamic, which pulls live from your pricebook, and static, which is fixed. ServiceTitan recommends dynamic so the options update when the book does.
Can I just use ServiceTitan’s auto-generate proposals instead of paying someone?
You can, with a catch. ServiceTitan’s auto proposals, the Generate Proposals button powered by Titan Intelligence, build proposal templates from your best sellers, but only if you have Pricebook Pro. And the button is only as good as the book under it. If your equipment costs, sold hours, and material links are wrong, auto-generate just produces tiered options that present the wrong price faster. The build work is making the pricebook correct first. That is the part a button does not do.
Why does a good proposal depend on the pricebook?
Because a dynamic estimate template pulls its price straight from the pricebook. ServiceTitan computes it as billable hours times labor rate, plus material cost times markup, plus equipment cost times markup. If the service has no hours, or the equipment carries no cost, or the materials are not linked, every tier in the proposal prices wrong. So a proposal build is really a pricebook build with a selling layer on top. Skip the book and you are just decorating a guess.
Do you charge per template, or a flat project fee?
Neither. We do not sell proposal templates by the dozen and walk away, because the day supplier costs move, a one-time set starts drifting from your real margins. We build your proposals and estimate templates, tier them so a tech presents instead of configures, and keep them current, as an ongoing partnership from $2,700 per month with no one-time fee. If all you want is a batch of templates dropped on your existing book, we are honestly not the cheapest way to get that.
